Google has systematically removed published, rated and reviewed Android apps from the Play Store without warning or notification to the app developers, leaving some app developers unavenge their revenue that has been left on the table.
The Android/iOS developer has grown frustrated after the company removed 4 out of 5 apps from the Play Store without warning or notification and due to technical reasons or the lack of their review was removed from the Play Store.
Google had made it so challenging for new and small developers to publish an Android application, as to not take the things mentioned above into account.
One of the developers of the ‘Userfriendly Chai Tea’ app felt that as an Android developer, new to the Android technology, he was restricted to publish an Android application through Google’s new Play Console and the Google APIs, requiring them to pay the mandatory $25 application APK upload fee in order to publish their applications, a process he said is cumbersome and made the smartphone app developer inarticulate as how to go about getting their app published on the Play Store.
The $25 application APK upload fee is meant to cover the costs that a developer has when they develop their application and want to publish their app on the Play Store. Google has removed these fees out of their apps as it was competing the fees with its other products and services, leaving the developer’s revenue on the table.
However, this is not the only issue that the developer has encountered the new era of Android as well. In the months leading up to the Android P developer preview, Google started rejecting apps submitted to the Play Store because of a lack of support for “New APIs”. These, are the APIs designed for the next Android version which is Android 9.0 Pie. Google rejected these apps for not having the necessary support for the API, leaving the developer to have to pay extra to update their app to add support for this API.
